A Pakistani actress who posed in the nude for an Indian magazine with the initials of Pakistan’s feared and powerful intelligence agency on her arm has triggered fury across this conservative nation.

Veena Malik’s photo on the website of FHM India, in advance of its publication in the magazine’s December issue, has been lighting up social network website Facebook and Twitter since earlier this week.

Many here anticipate a backlash, as nationalists and Islamists regularly stage rallies against anything they deem an insult to Islam or to the national honor. India and Pakistan have fought three wars, and the Inter-Services Intelligence agency or ISI has been accused of sponsoring terrorist attacks inside India.

Malik has broken Pakistani religious and national taboos in the past. She is a target for conservative ire and a heroine to some Pakistani liberals.

Conservative cleric Maulana Abdul Qawi declared on Aaj TV on Saturday that her latest venture into controversy was a “shame for all Muslims.” Farzana Naz, interviewed by the same channel on the streets of La-whore, said that the actress had “bowed all us women in shame.”

Twitter commentator Umair Javed however called on Pakistanis to “make copies of the picture and bury it in your backyard. This way, our grandkids will know there were some amongst us who lived free!”

Asked by reporters whether Pakistan would “pursue the matter” legally, the country’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik said Saturday, “First, let us see whether it is real or fake.”

Malik for her part says that the photo at the root of the current uproar was published in violation of her agreement with FHM India. In an interview with Pakistani Geo television broadcast Saturday, Malik acknowledged having been photographed for a “bold but not nude shot.” She said the editor of the magazine had promised that he would cover most of the photo with the ISI initials.

Malik said that the photo was intended to poke fun at the Indian fear of Pakistani spies: “Whatever happens (in India), people say ISI is behind that.”

Malik said she would “probably” take a legal action against the magazine for violating terms and condition.

Magazine editor Kabeer Sharma said Malik did all with her full consent.

“We have all the record(s),” he told the Pakistani television station. “Veena was very excited about that ISI idea.”

Malik does most of her work in India. The entertainment sector there is booming, while Pakistan’s is moribund. Her ties to Pakistan’s archrival have landed her in controversy in the past.

During a much-publicized talk show appearance early this year, she lashed out her nemesis Abdul Qawi, who criticized her for having a scripted love affair with an Indian actor on an Indian reality show.

“What is your problem with me?” an angry Malik demanded of the scholar, who had accused her of insulting Islam.

Mel Gibson Acting Career At Risk

Despite of Mel Gibson’s numerous achievements and his title as one of the most remarkable Hollywood actors and directors especially from the 2004 controversial film “The Passion Of Christ “, it seems producers are having second thoughts of giving Mel new projects due to the alleged violence scandal with his previous girlfriend and the mother of his child Oksana Grigorieva.
This Russian singer-songwriter and pianist had filed a restraining order against Mel Gibson due to threats and physical violence. An audio recording of Mel Gibson’s conversation with Oksana is currently being investigated by officials. Sources stated the Mel admits physical violence towards ex-girlfriend and he threatened to kill Oksana for numerous times. The reason behind these controversies are not yet confirmed but during an interview with Oksana, she said that she refuse to give any details about the incident but she claims that she filed a case against Mel Gibson first even before Gibson filed an order for her not to give any information about him that could ruin his image and career.
People seem to be getting different reactions about the scandal. Some people blame Mel Gibson for being a drunk and being mentally unstable while others doubted Oksana’s statements. Many believed that Oksana’s love for Gibson is untrue and she is only aims for his wealth resulting to Gibson’s strange behavior and intense anger. But either way, nobody knows the real story behind this scandal but it has already created a huge negative impact particularly to Gibson’s Hollywood career.

On the other hand, Oksana remained silent about the issue regarding the tape and she claims that she has nothing to do with how the audio recording leaked in public. But Gibson’s side doesn’t buy her statement and they believe that it was Oksana who was really responsible on how the recordings got publicized. As of the moment, there has been no declaration yet if which among them are really telling the truth. As the officials continue to investigate, Oksana stated during her interviews that the truth will soon come out.

It has been well known that the various techniques used in hypnosis, including NLP and visualizations have positively affected the state of mind and performances of many an experienced player, as well as the amateurs. Though a lot of famous sporting celebrities and athletes have used hypnosis techniques in the past, it is not a very well known fact because of the stigma attached to hypnosis.

The truth couldn’t be more different. Boxer Ken Norton used hypnosis prior to his penultimate game with Mohammad Ali, where Norton ended up breaking Ali’s jaw; even cyclist Lance Armstrong is said to have used visualization techniques to overcome obstacles.

Every year around this time, I grow tired of my summer clothes and the way my bare thighs to stick to my leather car seat. Thankfully, just as I’m dreaming of cozy sweaters and tall boots, warm fires and chilly nights, designers introduce their fall collections, magazine editors plaster the goods across glossy spreads, and models and actors start to wear them.

If you’re like me and you’re dreaming of cool weather fashions, here’s a sneak peek at what’s hot for the coming season. These are the top trends that came down the runway for fall—and the ones that are showing up on your favorite stylish A-lister. Adopt these looks if they suit you, or mix and match the trends you like—the ones that fit your body and your personality. Get a leg up on shopping now, and, come fall, you’ll look super chic—just like your favorite star.

Styles

Ruffled blouses: In stark contrast to the menswear-inspired suits designers are showcasing for fall (more later), the ruffled blouses they’re pushing are sweetly and seductively feminine. This season’s styles are delicate, gauzy and soft, with lots of ruffles, lace, full sleeves and demure buttons. Before you turn your nose up, however, you can make these delicate blouses edgier by layering them under the season’s stylish cropped jacket. (The layered look is in for clothes this fall, trust me: You will look so hip.) Or, do as Kate Bosworth does, save the world from sugar shock by pairing an ultra-feminine top with jeans. Which leads us to our next fall trend…

Skinny jeans: I understand that fashion fluctuates, and that it’s time to retire the bootleg, but I don’t like the skinny-jeans trend. The low-rise, flared-leg jeans of yesterday are much more flattering than the super-sleek, skinny, slouchy-ankle (called “the skinny stack” according to People magazine) jeans of this season. Stars and celebrity stylists apparently disagree. Celebs like Jessica Alba, Kate Moss, Ashlee Simpson and Carmen Electra are already sporting super-skinny jeans, typically with heels or occasionally flats (for the more long-legged). Let’s hope this trend passes quickly, but in the meantime, if you dare, opt for heels and a top that hits at the hip to add length and balance to your super skinny jeans.

Leggings: Leggings looked stupid in the 80s and they can look just as unflattering now if you don’t wear them right. Get the look down, though, and modern leggings are fresh; thankfully they’re not paired under jackets with giant shoulder pads, baggy tunics, bad perms and oversize matching plastic earrings. (Men especially hated this look. I don’t really remember men commenting much about women’s fashion, so this trend must have been especially ugly. But I digress.) If you want to wear leggings, make like stylish celebs Jessica Alba and Sienna Miller (who always look cute) and pair black, mid-calf-length leggings with ballet flats and an oversize, belted tunic or minidress. (Key word: belted.) Don’t wear brightly colored or ribbed leggings, and steer clear of shiny ones unless you’re going running. As well, don’t throw a super slouchy tunic on top or you’ll just look sloppy. And, for Pete’s sake, unless you’re Mischa Barton-skinny, don’t wear leggings with a cropped top. Leggings underneath a cute little dress or belted tunic or sweater is the way to go with this trend.

Military Jackets/Menswear: Okay, finally a fall trend I can totally support. There is nothing sexier than a gorgeous woman in a masculine suit (remember Kate Hepburn? Madonna in her Vogue video)? Stars like Charlize Theron and Penelope Cruz look stunning in menswear-inspired suits. It’s the contrast of striking femininity against tough masculinity. To wear this trend well, keep your hair loose and your makeup soft, and be sure to add bold jewelry. My favorite suits for this season are black or gray pinstriped pantsuits, preferably with flat-front trousers and a jacket with a deep V-neck. As for military jackets, I like them in blues with gold accents, paired with jeans and the season’s hot new ankle boots, or even flats.

Flounced Skirts and Modern Minidresses: Show off great legs (think Halle Barry and Sarah Jessica Parker) in this fall’s short skirts and dresses, along with those super hip aforementioned ankle boots. Just keep the rest of your look sleek and toned down. To feel like an adult and not a tot or, eek, a woman of questionable morals, pair minis with opaque, dark tights and flats or boots. And for goodness’ sake, do not wear a revealing top. As for flouncy, balloon skirts, you can get a little bit more creative with your top, depending on the skirt length and style. As a rule, pair a more detailed, ballooned, feminine skirt with a less dramatic top and vice versa. Wear these with heels. One note: Steer clear of this season’s jumpers, unless you want to look like a Swiss milkmaid or a Catholic schoolgirl.

Colors

Somber hues: As you’ve guessed, somber hues like gray, black and brown are in this fall. Along with muted colors, embellishments are at a minimum, but that doesn’t mean you can’t add a great piece of jewelry, like a pearl brooch or an oversize cocktail ring, to the mix. Or punch up the somber mood of fall fashions with faux animal skin shoes or a bag, or anything oversized and gold, like a big gold chain necklace or hammered cuff.

Red: According to Vogue, red is the new black. (Check out the mag’s September spread with Christy Turlington.) How to wear it? A stunning allover piece, like a red dress in a warm hue, or a red tunic, is gorgeous. If that’s too much, red patent leather boots or strappy leather sandals add a splash of red without going overboard. Head to toe red or red accessories still sound too bold? Try bright red lipstick, bright red nail polish, or a little clutch in, you guessed it, red. One note of caution: I wouldn’t recommend the red military jacket unless you’re calling the hunt.

Jewelry

Clothes are somber this season, but there is an upside: jewelry isn’t. Now’s the time to bring out (or buy) bold metallics and yellow gold. Hammered gold oversize earrings (like chandeliers, hoops, and dangles) are in this season, as are hammered gold cuff bracelets and wide gemstone cuffs in a bright hue like carnelian or aventurine. Black is also back in a big way. Try a black pearl necklace or a strand of demure white pearls tied with a black ribbon (there’s that sexy contrast again). Or a black beaded bracelet or black pearl dangle earrings. And forget the long, layered necklace look for now. It’s all about one statement-making piece. Try tying your pearl necklace in a loose knot before putting it on, or, to really make it fresh, thread a cocktail ring, class ring or bold brooch on your pearl necklace. Remember, with bold jewelry, you are making a statement, so keep other jewelry to a minimum. This season’s fashions are the perfect backdrop to statement-making pieces.

When choosing fall fashions, remember, wear what works for you, not what works for your favorite celebrity. Now go get creative!

Each season of Dancing with the Stars has been really interesting and amusing. Watching the celebrities learn how to maneuver with the large costumes is a real treat for many people and with so much going on during the whole season it is really easy to forget just how important it is to really take some time to look at the real winners for each season.

Season one gave us the winners Kelly Monaco and Alec Mazo. With Alec coming in as the oldest professional winner and Kelly Monaco the first winner of the show a hit series was born. By bringing the success of the show together with all of the great benefits that are provided a truly hit series was created. Kelly Monaco the season one winner is an actress and is quite well known for her role on the hit show General Hospital.

Season two was off in full force quickly and allowed the viewers the opportunity to really start connecting with the stars. Drew Lachey the younger brother to singer Nick Lachey and also a former member of the boy band 98 Degrees pulled out a win with professional Cheryl Burke. The duo performed excellently together and had a fabulous time.

Season three started with several great players and found the winner in Emmitt Smith a retired running back who was partnered with Cheryl Burke. This represented the second consecutive win for Cheryl, but the first win for Emmitt. After dancing his way into the hearts of viewers, he managed to pull a great win.

Season four was a great treasure with the winner Apolo Anton Ohno who was paired up with Julianne Hough. Julianne Hough was the youngest professional winner at only 18 when she helped Apolo Anton Ohno who was the youngest celebrity at 25 dance his way to win. Performing beautifully the entire season together, they enjoyed a large amount of success.

Season five was another great season for Julianne Hough’s who secured her second consecutive victory with Helio Castroneves as her celebrity partner. Helio a racecar driver for the Indy series performed really well however seemed a weaker contestant against the runner up Melanie Brown.

Season six saw a return of the women to the winning ranks. Kristi Yamaguchi an Olympic champion figure skater pulled out a win with professional partner Mark Ballas for the last season. After winning the highest scores for the entire season and the only perfect score for a contestant so far, Kristi was the true favorite of the crowd when she finished the season in top position.

Looking at all of the winners of Dancing with the Stars it is easy to see that the men have routinely dominated the winners circle. With men capturing the title for four straight seasons in a row it is time for the women to step up and compete better in order to keep the title from reverting back to a male contestant in the subsequent season 7 that is scheduled to start in the fall of 2008. With contestants still under wraps at this point, finding the perfect matching pair to win the hearts of the judges and the viewers is not always easy. Dancing with the Stars is certainly destined to grow even further and the previous six winners make it a great experience.

If they won’t admit it through the words that come out of their mouth, the difference in their appearance tells everything. Madonna the queen of pop who was very popular in 1980’s for her music, concerts, and movies had several reports of undergoing a cosmetic surgery. LONDON – Poor Kate Middleton. She’s not just marrying a future king. She’s marrying all of us.

Once upon a time, British subjects gazed upon their sovereigns from afar. Not any more.

Members of the royal family are now Hollywood-style mega-celebrities — their cellulite, receding hairlines and boozy nights out subject to the same relentless scrutiny as other A-listers.

The monarchy has gained in star power, and perhaps lost in dignity, since William’s mother, Princess Diana, burst into the royal family in a blonde blaze of charisma and changed it forever.

On British newsstands ahead of Friday’s wedding, Kate and William beam from the covers of celebrity magazines alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones, singer Cheryl Cole and surgically altered glamour model Katie Price. One promises the inside scoop on “Royal Wedding Meltdowns!” Another says that “Pals Fear for Skinny Kate.” The royal couple is even on the cover of TV Times — the wedding will be the television event of the year.

It’s easy to forget that it was not always like this.

“When I was growing up I thought the royal family was harmless but a bit boring,” said novelist Monica Ali, whose new book, “Untold Story,” imagines an alternate future for Princess Diana.

“It was really when Diana came on the scene that things started to change,” Ali said. “She divided opinion. A lot of people adored her, some people didn’t like her, but everybody had an opinion about her.

“She brought celebrity into it — for good or for ill.”

“Untold Story,” out now in Britain and published in the United States in June, imagines that Diana didn’t die in a 1997 car crash, but faked her own death, changed her name and rebuilt her life in a small American town.

Ali, whose books include the best-selling London immigrant saga “Brick Lane,” uses the novel to muse on the price of celebrity and the pressures of fame.

“Kate is not just marrying into the royal family,” Ali said. “She is marrying into celebrity. She is entering the game show of the first wives’ club. She’ll be competing with Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni.”

There’s nothing new in a popular desire to read about celebrities, but over the decades our relationship with them has been transformed.

Perhaps it was the rise of the paparazzi, with their long lenses and lack of boundaries. Maybe it was the lowering of social barriers and inhibitions that began in the 1960s. Nowadays, we want to know everything.

Ellis Cashmore, a cultural studies professor at England’s Staffordshire University and author of the book “Celebrity Culture,” said Princess Diana was a key figure in this transition — and so, even earlier, was the late Elizabeth Taylor, with her emotional exuberance and health problems and turbulent love life.

“It wasn’t the Liz Taylor we saw in the movies we were interested in — we wanted to know the real person,” he said. “We became much more interested in people’s private lives — or what was once their private lives.”

The royal family remained largely off-limits — until Diana worked her fairy-tale magic.

The romantic 1981 wedding of Prince Charles and 20-year-old Lady Diana Spencer was followed by two sons, William and Harry. Then came bulimia, a suicide attempt and marital discord that was obvious to the world even before Diana told a TV interviewer in 1995 that “there were three of us” in the marriage — Diana, Charles and his paramour Camilla Parker-Bowles.

Throughout it all, paparazzi trailed Diana wherever she went. Her combination of glamour, personal warmth, charity work and unhappiness was gold dust.

“The humanizing touch Diana gave it was like a magic touch, a wand — the entire royal family became in one instant human,” Cashmore said. “It was as if it had dawned on us that they were ordinary people just like us.”

And that changed the royal family.

“Diana jolted them into understanding they weren’t a private institution at all,” Cashmore said. “They were public, and we — the consumers, the fans — felt a sense of entitlement. It’s not just a monarchy. It’s our monarchy.

“The royal family has had to come to the recognition — slowly and rather reluctantly — that they are public property.”

That reluctance — and recognition — was dramatized in “The Queen,” Stephen Frears’ film about the aftermath of Diana’s death, in which the attention-shy monarch played by Helen Mirren is galvanized into a public display of grief by populist Prime Minister Tony Blair.

In the years since Diana’s death, the palace has made increasing concessions to popular hunger, including carefully staged interviews and photo opportunities with the young princes, William and Harry.

Royal officials have media-managed the wedding preparations with skill, releasing a steady drip feed of details, setting up a website, YouTube channel and Twitter account and arranging to stream the wedding ceremony live on the Internet. It is all designed to satisfy huge public curiosity while maintaining some control over the disclosures.

Most people in Britain express nothing but goodwill for William and Kate — and many sympathize with the nervousness Middleton must feel about becoming public property.

“I do think there’s a boundary,” said 23-year-old London trader Leah Clarke. “Every person is human and entitled to their privacy and that’s a right to everyone whether you’re a royal, a celebrity or whatever.”

Perhaps Kate and William will be allowed their fairy-tale ending — or at least a normal existence. Ali hopes so.

“There is a very human part of us that longs for more drama,” she said, “but we would like the fairy tale to work out this time around.”
